Our work method: the appropriate practice of the preparation of material safety data sheets

The process of preparation/translation of the safety data sheets can be divided into three main phases:

First phase: the development of the content and form of the MSDS.

We create a proper „sample” safety data sheet which meet the legal requirements based on the data/ original MSDS submitted and based on the pertinent legislation (see: „Regulations”).

The translation of the MSDS happens in this phase – if the original MSDS is in foreing language. The translation of the text is not a mirror, but a comprehensive translation in the majority of the cases. Instead of the imprecise or incorrect sentences we modify the text of the MSDS according to the correct professional terminology (this modification happens in only reasonable cases).

A special attention has to be paid to the translation of the standardised parts. The denomination of the hazard symbols, R and S phrases have standardised translations according to special regulations, and no other translations are accepted.

The checking of the given components is more important than the correct terminology. Our experts check whether the denomination of the substance, the CAS and EU number of the substance, and the indicated hazard symbols and R-phrases of the substance are correct. Only the exactly classified substances can be the basis of a correct hazard classification, which results an appropriate MSDS.

We have to pay attention to the workplace exposition limits as well. The limit values have to be checked based on the relevant legislation, we have to check whether the given substance has any limit values, and if yes, than it must be indicated in the relevant part of the MSDS.

Second phase: data checking and checking of the compulsory classifications.

Our expert checks that all the information is indicated in the „new” MSDS which was included in the source MSDS.

The multiple, continuous control during the preparation of the safety data sheet is unavoidable!

Our expert checks the classification of the substance/mixture, he does the modifications (if necessary), indicates the exact hazard symbols, replaces/amends the necessary R and S phrases. In a big majority of the safety data sheets, the special labeling elements are missing, a special attention has to be paid for these elements.

Third phase: our expert checks whether the safety data sheet in logical. We checks the incidental discrepancies and we modificate it (eg.: the toxicology information in Section 11 is not paralel with the classification stated in Section 2).

Guarantee:

The preparation of the safety data sheet does not end with the delivery of the MSDS. Our company guarantees that the delivered safety data sheet meets the requirements of the relevant legislation, in case of any authority inspection, if the authority has any objection against the safety data sheet, the expert of our company contacts the representative of the authority and clarify the arising questions.
