What has happened after the pre-registration?
With each pre-pregisted substance we became a member of a SIEF (Substance Information Exchange Forum).
SIEF membership requires activity or at least the tracking of the SIEF events. On one hand the member is oblidged to share its available information with the other members, on the other hand it is disadvantageous if the other members miss us from important decisions eg. the nomination of the Lead Registrant or cost-sharing issues etc.
Services for SIEF members (non Lead Registrants)
REACH registration untill 1 December 2010 for substances with the following properties:
- above 1000 tonnes
- above 1 tonne carciogenic substance (mutagenic category: 1-2)
- above 100 tonnes, if the substance is classified as R50/53.
Important! There are fundamental role differences between the Lead Registrants and the "other" SIEF members in REACH registration process. The task of the Lead Registrant is to submit the complete REACH registration dossier, but the SIEF member also has to submit its own so called "mini" registration dossier.

Those who has already submitted their pre-registration can not waste their time because the events happening in the now established SIEFs (eg.: nomination of Lead Registrant, data sharing) can have a very significant effect on the their future tasks.
Both the Lead Registrant and the "other" SIEF members have to compile and submit its own registration dossier. All SIEF members has to compile and submit its own so called "mini" registration dossier.

We can not forget about those, who has just started its operation this year, or has just reached the 1 tonne/year quantity at a given substance.
